Founded as the “world’s first discount grocery store” in Germany by the Albrecht family in 1961, ALDI has grown all over the world.

“For over 40 years, we have stuck to the same guiding principle: great quality should come with everyday low prices,” says the ALDI website. “We keep a close eye on the ingredients and materials that go into all our products to ensure they meet the highest standards.”

The state of South Carolina is already home to more than 50 ALDI stores, and according to coverage published by the Post and Courier, the grocery store chain is preparing to open another two locations in the area.

At 613 N U.S. Hwy 52, ground has officially been broken for a new ALDI store, at the intersection with Anglers Drive.

“Plans filed with the town call for a 20,664-square-foot store on about 4.5 acres, with an additional 1,870 square feet reserved for a future expansion,” the Post and Courier coverage says.

No opening date has been set for the new ALDI, the coverage adds, but Moncks Corner Mayor Thomas Hamilton Jr. has announced that, as of August 13, the new ALDI is “going vertical.”

Opening in the US-52 location, ALDI will be situated across the street from a 7-Eleven Store, near restaurants like Chick-fil-A, Wendy’s, and Jersey Mike’s Subs.
