Travelers at Jacksonville International Airport will soon have another option for grabbing a meal before a flight, with Jacksonville-born V Pizza planning a new location at the airport.
The planned restaurant will be located at 2400 Yankee Clipper Drive and will offer the Neapolitan style of pizzas and other dishes cooked in a wood-fired oven.
The V Pizza restaurant was founded in Jacksonville in 2014 with a mission to serve authentic Neapolitan pizza in Northeast Florida. The restaurant uses Italian ingredients, such as 00 flour, San Marzano tomatoes, and bufala mozzarella in their cooking process.
These ovens are heated to nearly 900 degrees, which makes the pizzas cook in about 60-90 seconds. As a result, a thin and soft dough with a char mark unique to Neapolitan pizzas is obtained.
The menu is more extensive than just pizza and offers a wide variety for the customers in the airport. Besides the range of Neapolitan pizzas, V Pizza also offers wood-fired wings, meatballs, salads, Italian sandwiches, and calzones. Pizzas served in the restaurant include the Margherita V Signature, Bolognese, Salsiccia, Piccante and Vegetariana. Gluten free and cauliflower crust pizzas are also available.
Desserts served in the restaurant include Nutella Pizza, New York Cheesecake, Key Lime Cannoli, and Limoncello Ricotta.
V Pizza has grown from its original Jacksonville restaurant into a larger regional operation, with locations throughout Florida and additional restaurants outside the state.
The new airport location will give the Jacksonville-born brand a new setting while bringing its wood-fired pizza to travelers passing through JAX.
An opening date for the new location has not yet been announced.
