A popular Mexican restaurant is making its Manhattan debut next year.

Mariscos El Submarino, owned by husband-and-wife duo Alonso Guzman and Amy Hernandez, will open  in the West Village at 31 Cornelia St., according to NewOpeningsNYC.

“Opening in Manhattan, it’s something that we always had on our minds. It was the right time, and we had the opportunity, so we took it,” Guzman told Whatnow New York City.

The restaurant currently has locations in Queens, Brooklyn’s Greenpoint, Park Slope and Clinton Hill neighborhoods, and Jersey City.

The upcoming Manhattan outpost will mirror Mariscos El Submarino’s signature aesthetic.

“We’re going to keep the same menu, same price, same layout. It’s going to be exactly the same,” he said.

Mexican seafood takes center stage at Mariscos El Submarino with ceviches, aguachiles, tostadas, seafood cocktails, grilled shrimp and tacos. Standouts include the Ceviche de Submarino, made with fish, shrimp and octopus, and tacos such as the Taco Gobernador and Costra, featuring ribeye, Chihuahua cheese and árbol chile salsa.

Drinks include Mexican beers, house micheladas, tequila and mezcal shots, along with aguas frescas and other nonalcoholic options.

Guzman looks forward to welcoming new and returning customers.

“We’re really excited we’re finally getting to the city. We have a lot of customers that were really pushing us to go to the city. It’s our first location but it’s not going to be the last one. We’re already planning to expand more in the city,” he said.

Guzman said the team recently signed the West Village lease and is undergoing a complete build-out of the space, a process he said could take up to eight months.
