The Big Apple is getting a taste of the Garden State as a renowned Indian restaurant brings its flavors to Midtown Manhattan.

Samudhra Premium Restaurant & Lounge, owned by Mangesh Chinthamaneni, will open at The Ellery apartment complex at 213 W. 43rd St., according to Traded.

The restaurant will occupy 10,000 square feet and feature a main dining room, bar and lounge. Guests will have to follow a “smart casual” dress code, with athletic wear not permitted.

Samudhra opened in Franklin Park, New Jersey, in 2019, founded on Chinthamaneni’s belief that “fine dining is an amalgamation of great food, extravagant ambience, and impeccable customer service.”

The culinary program, prepared by Executive Sous Chef Macvin Pereira alongside Swarna Latha, transports guests to the flavors and traditions of India.

The menu features soups, vegetarian and nonvegetarian appetizers and entrees, tandoor specialties, curries, biryani and rice dishes using all-natural ingredients.

For those with a sweet tooth, dessert options highlight Indian favorites such as double ka meetha, made with bread soaked in sweetened milk; falooda, a layered dessert drink with vermicelli, basil seeds, sweetened milk, ice cream and rose syrup; and qubani ka meetha, a Hyderabadi dessert featuring dried apricots topped with ice cream.

The goal is to expand Samudhra with new locations across the United States, Canada, London, Dubai and India in the coming years, with New York leading the effort.

An official opening date has not yet been announced. Visit the Samudhra Premium Restaurant & Lounge website and follow along on Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates.
