“They met in middle school, both served in the Marine Corps and have now partnered to bring the Filet Mignon of Chicken to two of South Carolina’s fastest-growing regions,” begins coverage an article by QSR Magazine, describing Grant McDowell and Jeremy Press, two new franchisees bringing Huey Magoo’s Chicken Tenders to the Columbia area as part of a six-location deal.

The franchisees will make their start further north, with a new location in Rock Hill, which is expected to open by Spring 2027. After that, the team will head south to Columbia, with an opening expected in 2028, Jeremy Press told What Now on Tuesday.

“We had been talking about getting into the restaurant industry,” Press said, describing the journey that brought Press and McDowell to the Huey Magoo’s brand. “When we came across Huey Magoo’s, we liked how they were all about quality and customer service. The branding just made sense, and when we went and ate there, everything was perfect. A really nice atmosphere, and the quality of the food and the chicken really topped it off.”

The Huey Magoo’s menu includes 3-, 5-, and 7-Piece Meals, served with Fresh-Cut Chips or Crinkle-Cut Fries, Texas Toast & Dip. You’ll also find sandwiches like the Magoo’s Sandwich (Tenders on a premium toasted bun, topped with thick-cut dill pickles and drizzled with our signature Magoo’s Dip) and the Buffalo Sandwich (Buffalo Tenders on a premium toasted bun, topped with mixed greens, sliced tomato, and pepper jack cheese drizzled with our handcrafted ranch).

“With its 100th location opening later this year, Huey Magoo’s is expanding steadily across the country to meet the demand for premium, handcrafted chicken tenders made fresh using only the tenderloin, the best three percent of the chicken,” QSR Magazine says.

The specific location in Columbia has not yet been released.
