A local NYC bagel shop is spreading into Greenwich Village.
Apollo Bagels, dubbed a “new school bagel shop rooted in old-school technique,” will open at 19 Waverly Pl., according to New Openings NYC.
The bagel joint, founded by Joey Scalabrino and Mike Fadem, started as a Williamsburg pop-up during the pandemic before opening its first brick-and-mortar location in the East Village in 2024.
Since then, Apollo Bagels has grown to eight locations, with five across Manhattan in the Financial District, Kips Bay, Midtown, Tribeca and the West Village, plus outposts in Williamsburg, Industry City and Hoboken.
The shop is known for its naturally fermented, boiled bagels, including plain, sesame and everything varieties, made fresh each morning.
The menu also features a selection of bagel sandwiches, featuring classic options with butter, cream cheese or jam, as well as combinations with tomato, smoked salmon, capers, red onion and dill. Another option pairs whitefish salad with pickled peppers, mustard and cucumber.
