According to public filings, Whataburger plans to open a new location at 1730 N. Town East Blvd. in Mesquite, under a ground lease.
Whataburger is known for its orange-and-white A-frame buildings, five-inch buns, and menu of made-to-order burgers, chicken sandwiches, and breakfast items available around the clock.
What Now Dallas reached out to Whataburger representatives to inquire about an opening timeline but did not hear back prior to press time. Permitting records list a construction completion date of September 2027. However, dates listed in public filings are not always definitive.
Founded in Corpus Christi in 1950 by Harmon Dobson, Whataburger has grown to more than 1,100 locations across the country and is known for its made-to-order menu and signature orange-and-white branding.
Mesquite already has three operating Whataburger locations: on Town East Boulevard near Motley Drive, North Galloway Avenue, and Military Parkway.
The new location would mark the brand’s fourth in the city, according to its own store locator, and its first specifically along the North Town East corridor. The area has drawn steady restaurant growth in recent years.
What Now Dallas has reported on several openings along the same stretch, including Dave’s Hot Chicken at 1505 N. Town East Blvd., Hawaiian Bros at 1638 N. Town East Blvd., Salad and Go at 1950 N. Town East Blvd.
