Heritage is a new restaurant opening in Summerhill, Atlanta. The opening will bring a mix of cultural storytelling, modern cooking, and hospitality to the neighborhood. The concept draws on Brown’s personal connection to African and Caribbean food traditions.
Heritage by Chef Demetrius to Open in Atlanta’s Summerhill

Heritage, by Chef Demetrius Brown and his business partner Brandon Blanchard, is opening on September 10 at 63 Georgia Avenue in Atlanta’s historic Summerhill neighborhood. It will focus on African, Caribbean, and Afro-American cuisine.
The restaurant will pair traditional African and Caribbean flavors with contemporary cooking techniques. On opening night, guests can choose between a tasting menu and an à la carte menu. Proceeds from the evening will benefit Hope for Haiti and Georgia Organics.
Heritage will build on Brown’s successful Heritage Supper Club pop-up. The pop-up became known for its multi-course tasting menus. It was inspired by Brown’s family, childhood memories, and the food traditions of the African diaspora.
The pop-up concept was later named “Best Food Pop-Up” by Atlanta Magazine. The restaurant will offer seasonal tasting menus during dinner, along with an à la carte menu in the lounge.
Brown has more than 30 years of experience in the restaurant industry. He and Blanchard previously worked together before acquiring the restaurant Bread & Butterfly in Atlanta’s Inman Park neighborhood. Together, they went on to establish Bellevue Hospitality. Bread & Butterfly received recognition from The New York Times, including a spot on its Restaurant List and Atlanta’s Best Restaurants list.
Menu and Dining Experience

Through Heritage, Brown hopes to introduce more diners to African and Caribbean cuisine. He also plans to highlight the stories and traditions behind the dishes. Some dishes on the menu will have personal stories behind them.
Carmen’s Cucumbers is a dish inspired by Brown’s childhood memories of eating cucumbers from his aunt’s garden. The Jamaican Patties are based on the dish he prepared on Food Network’s Beat Bobby Flay. The Hispaniola Burger reflects his appreciation for Haiti.
The beverage program has been developed by award-winning beverage professional Keyatta Mincey. It will feature cocktails, wine, spirits, and non-alcoholic drinks inspired by African diaspora ingredients and traditions. The program will also highlight Black-owned, BIPOC-owned, women-owned, local, and sustainable producers.
Heritage’s design will feature earthy tones, greenery, Moroccan clay walls, layered textures, and artwork. The entrance will lead into a dark, relaxed lounge with 14 seats and a full bar.
The dining room will seat 34 guests and feature an open kitchen and chef’s counter. Future plans include a rooftop patio called Heritage Garden and a private event space.
Heritage will add a new dining destination in Atlanta’s Summerhill neighborhood.
