Galpin Sushi Restaurant, a proposed sushi restaurant, is seeking approval to open in North Hills at 8351 N Sepulveda Blvd.
The proposed restaurant would be attached to a Mazda dealership and would occupy an existing suite, according to documents submitted to the Los Angeles City Planning Department. The application requests a Conditional Use Permit for the sale and dispensing of beer and wine for on-site consumption. Customers can expect a sushi restaurant with a Japanese garden and outdoor patio.
According to the planning documents, the restaurant would span approximately 2,873 square feet and include 48 interior seats. An additional 1,474-square-foot uncovered patio would provide 52 outdoor seats. The proposed hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. daily.
The project is described as a tenant improvement within an existing suite for a new sushi restaurant. The submitted plans identify Galpin Motors, located at 5505 Roscoe Boulevard in North Hills, as part of the project documentation. The restaurant would be part of the Galpin Motors property and connected to the dealership.
Galpin Motors dates back to 1946, when Frank Galpin opened Galpin Ford in the City of San Fernando. The company later expanded its automotive operations, including the opening of Galpin Mazda in 1998. According to Galpin Motors’ history, the Mazda dealership became the number one selling Mazda dealer in the United States in 2016.
The current application is focused on securing the requested alcohol permit for the proposed restaurant. The planning documents identify the concept as Galpin Sushi Restaurant and show plans for both indoor dining and an outdoor patio. The submitted materials are part of the application process and have not been approved.
