Trackside Kitchen and Bar is taking over the space at 330 3rd St in West Sacramento, previously home to Midway Bar and Grill. Co-owner Torn Saetern confirmed to What Now Sacramento that he and business partner Micky Sisenglath are targeting a December opening for their first restaurant venture together.
Saetern described the concept as Asian American fusion, built specifically around Southeast Asian dishes blended with American classics. The menu will lean on Vietnamese staples like pho and banh mi, alongside Laotian dishes including Lao sausage, giving West Sacramento a specific regional angle that’s less common than more broadly labeled “Asian fusion” spots.
Neither Saetern nor Sisenglath came from a restaurant background before this. Saetern said the venture came together somewhat unexpectedly rather than as a longtime dream, describing it simply as an opportunity the two decided to take on together, choosing to move carefully and take things slow as they build the business.
“We’re just two two local Asian guys from Westside trying to build community in Westside” Saetern told What Now.
Third Street sits in West Sacramento’s historic Broderick and Bryte neighborhood corridor, just across the Sacramento River from downtown Sacramento and within a short walk of the Barn District’s growing mix of restaurants and breweries. The area has drawn steady reinvestment in recent years.
