Newcastle Pizzeria, the wood-fired pizza spot at 505 Main St, Suite A, in Newcastle, CA, is changing hands. State filings show Newcastle Pizzeria LLC, now led by members Gregg Pistochini and Jessica Church, filed for a new liquor license on August 17, transferring from founding owner Julieann Jae Sattler, who has held the license since the restaurant first opened in 2014.

The pizzeria has built a loyal following in the small Placer County town over more than a decade, known for its wood fired pizza oven, garlic and rosemary chicken wings, and a rotating selection of local beer and wine. Reviewers have consistently praised the restaurant’s small town charm, calling it a favorite stop for locals and travelers passing through on Interstate 80 between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe.

Sattler built Newcastle Pizzeria into a true neighborhood staple over her more than 11 years running it, the kind of restaurant where regulars know the staff by name and out of towners plan their drive up the hill around a stop for a pie. Pistochini and Church now inherit that legacy, taking the reins of a restaurant with a devoted local following already built in.
