A community favorite pizza and pub chain is preparing to close one of its Maine locations. Portland Pie Company will shut down its Westbrook outlet next week, as the lease for the location is ending.
Westbrook Portland Pie Company Location to Close
Portland Pie Company is a popular pizzeria and pub chain in Maine and was founded in 1997. The chain built a strong following in the community with its traditional but unique pizzas, craft brews sourced from local breweries, and a warm dining experience.
The pizza chain’s Westbrook location will be closing its doors after 20 years of service. The restaurant team announced the closure with a social media announcement.
Located at 869 Main St. in Westbrook, the restaurant will serve its final meal Friday, September 25.
The team behind the restaurant explained, “As we approached the end of our lease, another restaurant reached out to us about the possibility of taking over the space.” According to the post, the restaurant team decided to give up the space for a new opening.
Reflecting on its journey in the community, the team wrote, “We’ve watched families grow, welcomed longtime regulars week after week, celebrated milestones with you, worked alongside local businesses and organizations, and made countless memories within these walls.”
In the post, the restaurant team mentioned that they are currently focused on taking care of their team during the transition period.
They assured, “Every member of our current Westbrook team has been offered the opportunity to continue working with Portland Pie Company at one of our eight other locations.”
Other Locations Remain Open
While the Westbrook location is bidding farewell to the community, the Portland Pie Company’s story will be continued at its other locations.
The restaurant confirmed that its eight other locations, including Bangor, Brunswick, Biddeford, and Falmouth, will remain open. The team encouraged its Westbrook customers to visit its other locations for their favorite pizzas.
They thanked the community and customers for their support for the past two decades. “Thank you for choosing us for family dinners, pizza nights, celebrations, lunches, takeout orders, and gatherings,” said the team.
As the Westbrook location of Portland Pie Company enters its final weeks of operations, the restaurant team hopes to celebrate with the community.
