A longtime favorite family-friendly sports bar and restaurant in Myrtle Beach have officially closed. Thorny’s has served the community for more than two decades.
Thorny’s in Myrtle Beach Permanently Closes
Situated in the heart of downtown Myrtle Beach, Thorny’s has served the community for 22 years. It was popularly known for serving slow-cooked ribs, prime steaks, and seafood. The restaurant, located at 600 S Kings Highway, was a beloved gathering place for the community to celebrate special occasions and enjoy casual dinners.
On September 14, the restaurant team shared the news of its closure on Facebook. The team said, “Thorny’s has made the difficult but exciting decision to close after 22 years of long days, hard work and dedication.”
The team behind the restaurant wrote that the owners have decided to relax and spend time with their family.
According to The Sun News, the owners of the restaurant, Joe and Angela Provencal, are retiring from the restaurant business.
They mentioned, “We are currently in negotiations with several interested parties and are looking to eventually turn the business over to the new owners.”
The restaurant sale deal is being handled by Ken Wells of Coastal business brokers.

Other customers congratulated the owners on their retirement and thanked them for their years at the restaurant.
The closure of Thorny’s marks the end of a longstanding dining experience for the Myrtle Beach dining community.
