The Lunch Counter, known primarily for its smash burgers, is relocating in Gainesville. The team is targeting a November opening at 893 Main St., co-owner Balt Depina told What Now Atlanta.
Depina’s wife, Nina B, launched the business as a catering food truck in 2021 and they later opened their first brick-and-mortar store as a takeout-only spot along Thompson Bridge Road. However, their loyal customers would often express an interest in having seating on site so they could enjoy their food at the restaurant.
The new location on Main Street is designed to answer this call. The restaurant’s footprint will more than double, jumping from 1,200 square feet to 2,500 square feet, and it will allow for on-site seating.
“We’re hoping for a great new chapter, not too far from the current location, that’s going to give our current customers everything they’ve been asking for,” Depina said.
They will be keeping their menu classics, including burgers, subs and loaded fries, while adding a few more dishes to the lineup with their increased bandwidth.
In the future, the team hopes to continue to grow, slowly and with intentionality.
“We just want to be that neighborhood place,” Depina said.
