Harris Teeter is expanding its Charlotte-area footprint with three new stores, including a new location in Kannapolis, North Carolina, alongside planned stores in Fort Mill and Lake Wylie. The expansion is part of a $253 million investment the Matthews-based grocery chain is making across the Charlotte region over the next three years, according to the Charlotte Observer.
The Kannapolis store is planned for North Main Street and Loop Road, while the Fort Mill location will be at Dobys Bridge Road and Fort Mill Parkway within Catawba Ridge Market. The Lake Wylie store is planned for WestLake Village at State Highway 55 and SC-49. Harris Teeter said construction on the three stores is expected to begin this year, although specific opening dates have not been announced.
As a full-service supermarket, Harris Teeter offers shoppers a broad selection of everyday groceries along with fresh departments. The company’s website lists fresh produce, meat and seafood, pantry staples, dairy and eggs, frozen foods, beverages, bakery, deli and natural and organic products among its offerings. Its stores also feature prepared foods, including rotisserie chicken, sandwiches, soups, salads, cakes, cupcakes, cookies and party platters.
Additional services vary by location and can include pharmacy services, floral departments, grocery pickup and delivery. Harris Teeter also operates fuel centers at select stores and offers online grocery ordering.
The three new stores come as Harris Teeter works to modernize its existing Charlotte-area locations.
Planned improvements include expanded fresh food, bakery and prepared meal departments, updated layouts and signage, exterior and parking improvements, shopping cart upgrades, and enhancements to pickup and delivery operations. The updates will roll out in phases over the next three years, according to WBTC website.
