Smoke & Honey is closing its brick-and-mortar restaurant in New Orleans’ Mid-City neighborhood. The restaurant was founded in 2024, and it currently serves Greek street food and Jewish deli fare during the day before transitioning into a Greek taverna in the evening.
Smoke & Honey To Close Permanently
Smoke & Honey located at 3301 Bienville Street was closing after almost three years. The restaurant team announced the closure through Instagram. The team posted, “After almost 3 years and after careful thought, it’s time to close the doors on our brick & mortar.”
Several customers expressed disappointment in the closure announcement on social media. One of them wrote, “Really sorry to see this…we loved y’all…but I understand. Best wishes!!”
Another user commented, “No! I hate to hear this! Love your place.”
According to its website, the business came into life as a pop-up during the pandemic. The restaurant opened its permanent location at 3301 Bienville Street in January 2024. The restaurant combines Greek and Jewish dishes drawn from family recipes.

Final Week Includes Lamb-Themed Event
The owners said the restaurant will remain open Wednesday through Sunday during its final week. They posted, “To celebrate the space, we’re throwing down on a big lamb party this weekend the 26th & 27th and going out the only way I know how…with a lamb and an ouzo.”
The New Orleans restaurant’s menus include Greek and Mediterranean dishes. Along with this, guests are served Jewish deli-inspired offerings during the day, while the evening menu focuses on its Greek taverna concept.
Over the years, the establishment has also offered items for breakfast, lunch, dinner, takeout, delivery, and private events.
The owners did not specify a reason for the closure.
The restaurant encouraged customers to visit during its final week before the Mid-City location closes September 27.
