A new nightlife destination will soon bring dancing, DJs, drinks, and live entertainment to downtown Lowell.
Europa is preparing to open on the third floor of 76 Merrimack Street, bringing together a nightclub, bar, lounge, and live-entertainment venue under one roof. The venue is currently working through the inspection process, and managers Tim Poleet and Anthony Cogliandro told What Now Boston that the team is targeting a November 2026 opening.
Poleet, General Manager, and Cogliandro, Operations Manager, bring more than 40 years of combined nightclub experience to the project, with backgrounds spanning management, talent booking, events, and security.
“Our goal is to create an unforgettable nightlife experience centered around great music, drinks, dancing, entertainment, and atmosphere,” the Europa team said in a statement. “We chose Lowell because it is such a large and diverse city, and we believe its nightlife is absolutely on the upswing.”
Music will be central to the Europa experience, with a focus on house music and EDM. The lineup will include resident DJs alongside local and regional talent, and the team also hopes to bring in nationally known DJs and performers. Live cover bands, themed nights, and other special events will add some variety to the programming.
That musical lineup will be complemented by an atmosphere designed to keep the energy flowing throughout the night. The space will feature immersive sound and lighting, lounge and VIP areas, live entertainment, and a dance floor at the center of the action.
At the bar, guests can expect classic nightlife favorites alongside unique Europa creations. One offering the team is particularly excited about is the “Europa Bowl,” a signature drink designed specifically for the venue.
While food won’t be served upstairs during regular nightclub operations, Europa guests will have access to Time Out Cafe and the soon-to-open Charm Restaurant & Cafe, located downstairs in the building. Food can be ordered through Europa staff upstairs and picked up downstairs to enjoy before heading back up to the nightclub.
Beyond regular nightlife, Europa will be available for private events and celebrations, including birthdays, corporate functions, holiday parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, fundraisers, reunions, and other gatherings. The team is also considering full-venue rentals for larger private events.
Importantly, safety will be a major part of the venue’s operation. In addition to experienced management, Europa will have professional security personnel, controlled entry, security cameras throughout the venue, staff stationed throughout the space, and electronic ID scanning.
“We want Europa to become a primary destination for anyone looking for a night out with great music, atmosphere, and drinks in a place where they know their safety is a priority,” the managers said.
The operating schedule is still being finalized, but Europa expects to initially open on Friday and Saturday nights, with plans to expand to Thursday through Sunday once the full schedule is in place. Programming will vary by event, including all-ages, 18+, and 21+ events.
The team is currently working through the inspection process and will announce the grand opening date once it’s finalized. “We’ll be open soon, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone through our doors—to come have a drink, hit the dance floor, and enjoy the Europa experience with us,” management said.
