A cocktail bar that takes guests back in time is coming to the city.
The LIA Tavern team is building on their success with the addition of Tini Bar, opening in the basement at 11 W Illinois Street. The space will serve 15-20 cocktails in the 60s-style space. Owner Chef Justin Vaiciunas told What Now Chicago he is hoping to debut the bar around late November or early December.
LIA Tavern opened in June last year, and has become a popular option for tavern-style pizza in River North. To elevate the space, Vaiciunas and the team wanted to create a new drink destination for those stopping in to explore.
“I wanted the martini to be a showpiece,” Vaiciunas said in a press release. “Freezer martinis and martini carts have become so popular, so I kept thinking about how we could do something different. That’s when I came up with the idea to run the tap system through the ceiling.”
At Tini Bar, one of the cocktails to be served is the Warhol Martini with vodka and gin, and a splash of Mediterranean lemon, orange bitters and olive juice. The cocktails are not the only options, as beers and wines will also be available. A menu for six-drink guided cocktail tasting is being created.
The bar is coming to the intersection of N State Street, next to Snickers Bar & Grill. Other concepts at this stretch include Olio E Piu, Howl at the Moon and La Grande Boucherie. This is a short walk from the Grand Red Line CTA station.
More updates on Tini Bar and the official opening date will be released on their website soon.
