Circle K is planning a new gas station and convenience store at the corner of Joiner Parkway and First Street in Lincoln, paired with a Starbucks drive-thru on the same site. A recent California ABC filing for an off-sale general license, which covers beer, wine and spirits sales, points to the project moving toward an opening, though no date has been announced.
The two businesses would split a two-acre property into separate one-acre parcels, with Circle K taking one lot for fuel pumps and a convenience store and Starbucks taking the other for a quick-service restaurant with a drive-through. The project is being developed by Green River Partners, which filed its plans with the City of Lincoln in June.
The convenience store brand is one of the largest convenience store operators in the world. The chain already lists a Lincoln station on North Service Road, so the Joiner Parkway store would give it a second presence in the city, this time closer to the downtown corridor.
The pairing of a fuel stop and a drive-thru coffee shop has become a common format for Circle K in California. The company has been building new stores alongside Starbucks drive-thrus in other parts of the state, including a recently built combination in Cathedral City.
Lincoln has continued to add retail and food options as its population grows. A new fuel and coffee stop near the First Street and Joiner Parkway intersection would add a convenient option for commuters and residents on that side of town, with the alcohol license covering the beer, wine and spirits that Circle K stocks at most of its stores.
