Hobby Lobby is planning a new store at 3671 N. Freeway Blvd. in North Natomas, bringing the national craft and home decor retailer to the northern part of Sacramento.

The Oklahoma City-based company sells arts and crafts supplies, home decor, frames, fabrics, floral arrangements, party supplies and seasonal merchandise, from fall decorations to Christmas displays. Founded in 1972, it now operates more than 1,000 stores across the country.

The chain already has two stores in the city, one at 1870 Arden Way and another at Delta Shores in South Sacramento, at 8218 Delta Shores Circle S. The Natomas store would give shoppers in the north part of the city a closer option than driving to Arden Way.

The site is part of a large retail building along North Freeway Boulevard, where Burlington Coat Factory is listed at the same address. The building was originally a Sam’s Club that closed in January 2010.

North Freeway Boulevard is one of the main retail corridors in Natomas, with shopping centers on both sides of the street. The area has since filled in with shopping, dining and services serving the fast-growing neighborhood.
