Hobby Lobby is planning a new 55,000-square-foot store at 14019 E. Hwy in Manor, on the northwest corner of Highway 290 and Old Kimbro Road. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-December 2026, with completion targeted for late July 2027, which puts the opening in the second half of next year.
The project is a privately funded, ground-up build valued at about $6 million, with Michael Harrison listed as the tenant. A store of that size is among the larger craft and home décor footprints in the Austin area, and it would give Manor residents a closer option than the existing locations in the Austin metro.
Founded in 1972 by David and Barbara Green, who started with a $600 loan and a small business making miniature picture frames at home, Hobby Lobby has grown into a chain of more than 1,000 stores in 48 states, with roughly 50,000 employees. Its stores carry over 80,000 items, including home décor, seasonal merchandise, art and craft supplies, yarn, fabric and jewelry-making materials. The company is based in Oklahoma City.
Texas remains one of the chain’s busiest markets. A new location in Granbury, which opened Oct. 2, was the company’s 121st in the state, according to its newsroom, and the Manor store would add to that count as the company keeps building along growing suburban corridors east of Austin.
