The space that was once a Giordano’s is being revamped this year.

Following their Geneva location, the owners of Tia Carmen are bringing a new restaurant to 1505 S Randall Road in Algonquin. The concept has been in the suburb two years, and has become popular for its authentic Mexican dining experience. Owner Carlos Arechiga told What Now Chicago he is hoping to open the new Tia Carmen in January next year.

Arechiga is part of Arechiga Restaurant Group, which owns Hacienda Real. They currently operate five locations in Yorkville, Geneva, Vernon Hills which opened last year, Paris and Janesville, Wisconsin. While Hacienda real is a more contemporary and modern vibe, Carlos wanted to create a more classic Mexican restaurant he remembers growing up.

“Let’s do the kind of places we want to go to,” Carlos said.

Menu specialties at the Geneva location includes their carne asada with grilled onion and jalapeno, a salmon chipotle with cucumber salad, and enchiladas verdes. Tacos, plates, appetizers and sides like Mexican street corn are served. Their drink menu has many margaritas and cocktails to choose from.

The space is at the northeast side of the County Line Road intersection. A Dave’s Hot Chicken shares the building, and Montarra New American restaurant is also at this stretch. This is west of downtown Algonquin,

More updates on Tia Carmen and the new location can be found on their Facebook or Instagram pages.
