The coffee company that has been around for 10 years is continuing to focus on Evanston.
From Evanston Now, Backlot Coffee has found a new cafe location at 1424 Lake Street. This will be their fourth cafe, again serving classic coffees, pastries and breakfast items. As the project was just recently approved, an opening date has not yet been established.
The coffee concept was founded in 2016 by Isaac Bloom and John Kim. The two are locals to the Evanston area, and were inspired to create a cafe during their time interacting with the community. After debuting in Evanston, they found a new location in Old Irving Park, then Lincoln Square and eventually a small cafe at Northwestern University.
Their menu for Central Street includes typical coffees like espressos and americanos, as well as specialty drinks, breakfast and lunch items, and pastries. Their bagels include plain, sesame, everything and raisin. For the next Evanston location, it is assumed the options will be mostly the same.
The shop will be at the corner of Ashland Avenue, right across from Penny Park. This is also next to Cherry Preschool, and in proximity to other Evanston schools. The immediate area is not home to many other restaurants, and is southwest of the city’s downtown.
What Now Chicago has reached out to the Backlot Coffee team and is awaiting comment.
