Build-A-Bear Workshop is expanding its presence in Central Ohio with a new location planned for Tanger Outlets at 400 S. Wilson Road in Sunbury, according to Columbus Business First.
The upcoming store will join the open-air shopping center near the Interstate 71 and U.S. 36/State Route 37 interchange. The addition will give shoppers another family-oriented retail experience at the outlet center, which features more than 80 brands, including Nike Factory Store, Coach, Under Armour, Adidas and J.Crew Factory.
Build-A-Bear Workshop is known for its interactive experience, allowing customers to select a stuffed animal, participate in the stuffing process and personalize their new plush friend with clothing, accessories and other add-ons. The retailer offers options for children and adults, including themed collections and customizable gifts.
According to local reporting from 1808Delaware, the company has begun recruiting for the Sunbury location, with job postings for a store manager, assistant manager, sales leads and sales associates. The company refers to the upcoming location as its “Tanger Warehouse Store,” signaling that preparations are underway.
The new store will add to Build-A-Bear’s existing presence in Central Ohio, which includes a location at Easton Town Center in Columbus. The retailer operates stores in shopping centers and other destinations, offering customers opportunities to create personalized stuffed animals for birthdays, special occasions and everyday gifts.
Tanger Outlets Columbus opened in 2016 and has grown into a regional shopping destination serving communities across Central Ohio. The center’s location along I-71 places it between Columbus and the growing communities of southern Delaware County.
An official opening date for the new Build-A-Bear Workshop has not been publicly announced.
