Popular American-style seafood restaurant in Maryland, The Gourmet at Kenilworth, announced its permanent closure. After more than five years of business, the restaurant is preparing to close in November. Its sister restaurant, Catonsville Gourmet, will remain open.

The Gourmet at Kenilworth Announces Closure

A community favorite, an upscale, full-service restaurant and bar, The Gourmet at Kenilworth is well known for its high-quality, fresh seafood and local ingredients. The space features a casual Nantucket-inspired coastal dining setting and comfortable atmosphere.

The seafood-focused menu includes dishes such as Baltimore crispy shrimp bites, a fried oyster sandwich, and Nantucket Pasta. It also serves a curated bar menu with innovative cocktails, regional draft beers, and an extensive selection of wine.

The team behind the restaurant announced the closure news on social media with an emotional message. They wrote that after serving the Towson community for more than 5 years, The Gourmet will close its operations.

“It is with a heavy heart that we regret to announce Saturday, November 7th, 2026, as our last day of operation here, at The Gourmet at Kenilworth,” stated the team.

The team did not provide a reason for the closure in the post.

Sister Restaurant Remains Open

While The Gourmet at Kenilworth is bidding farewell to the community, the sister location of the restaurant at 829 Frederick Road in Catonsville, Maryland, will continue to serve.

In the Facebook post, the team said, “Our sister restaurant Catonsville Gourmet will continue to grow and operate with the addition of a few familiar faces.”

The restaurant thanked the community, customers, and staff for supporting The Gourmet at Kenilworth. The team also encouraged the community to visit the restaurant one more time and added, “Let’s treat this next month as a celebration; ‘Don’t be sad that it’s over, be happy that it happened!’”

With the closure of The Gourmet at Kenilworth, the vibrant Maryland dining landscape is losing a gem of a dining destination.
