Pelon’s Baja Grill, founded by the Muscara family, is a family-owned Southern California-style Mexican restaurant. The menu features Baja-style Mexican dishes, while the restaurant offers a casual, laid-back atmosphere.
Through a social media announcement, the restaurant team shared the closure news. Pelon’s Baja Grill’s Ghent location at 738 W 22nd St #15, Norfolk, will shut down its operations on October 18.
The team thanked the community and said, “It is with much gratitude that we say thank you for all your support for the last 18 years. Thank you for your loyalty, thank you for all the good times, and thank you for helping us through the hard times.”
They also encouraged the community to visit the restaurant and enjoy one more meal before its permanent closure.

Other Locations Remain Open
While the Ghent location is preparing to say goodbye, Pelon’s Baja Grill will continue its legacy in the Virginia Beach neighborhood. In the post, the team stated that the sister locations of the restaurant, Oceanfront on 3619 Pacific Avenue in Virginia Beach, and Red Mill on 2212 General Booth Blvd Suite 200 in Virginia Beach, will remain open.
The flagship location, Pelon’s Baja Grill Oceanfront was opened in 2005. Following the success of the original location, the restaurant established its second location in Norfolk’s Ghent neighborhood in 2007.
The Red Mill, the third location of the chain, was opened in 2019. The restaurant gained a strong following with its Baja-style Mexican dishes and laid-back beach vibes.
