Chant’el Cafe, the European-influenced bakery and cafe at 1750 Prairie City Road in Folsom, plans to reopen next year in a new location, owner Nina Getman confirmed to What Now Sacramento. The cafe closed its doors at the Folsom Corners shopping center earlier this month.
The coffee shop opened in Suite 150 in 2021, serving desserts and coffee drinks. It fills 2,226 square feet at the corner of Prairie City Road and Willard Drive, and Folsom has been its only location. Nina said closing the cafe was a hard decision. “Closing our cafe was never the ending we hoped for,” she said. “It is difficult to walk away from something you have poured so much of your heart, time, and hard work into. But sometimes, circumstances make decisions for us that we would never have chosen ourselves.”
The cafe announced the closure on social media, saying its lease terms had changed significantly and the new terms were not something it could continue with. The same post said the business plans to reopen elsewhere “with a new space, a new design, and a new atmosphere,”.
For now, the next chapter is still taking shape. “I don’t know exactly what the next chapter will look like, or where it will take us,” Nina said. “But I hope this is not goodbye, just a pause before a new beginning.”
She also wanted to make clear that the cafe’s mission hasn’t changed. “Our love for creating beautiful food, bringing people together, and making ordinary moments feel special is still here,” she said.
Nina closed by thanking the cafe’s customers. “To everyone who supported us, celebrated with us, and made Chant’el Cafe part of your lives: thank you,” she said. “You gave this dream a meaning far beyond what we could have created on our own.”
