The Original Tavern plans to open in 2027 at 5350 E. High Street in north Phoenix at City North, AZ Big Media reports. The restaurant is part of Square One Concepts and will occupy the former Mellow Mushroom space.

The project includes more than 8,000 square feet, with a patio and an indoor-outdoor bar. A golf simulator, multiple televisions, and an LED video wall for sports viewing are also planned.

The kitchen will prepare dishes from scratch, with a planned menu that includes Midwest-style pizzas, smash burgers, fried chicken, grilled salmon, and baby back ribs. Prime rib dinners will be offered Friday through Sunday, and happy hour is also planned.

The new restaurant takes inspiration from its sister concept, The Original Arcadia Tavern, at 3950 E. Indian School Road, Suite 150, in Phoenix.

What Now Phoenix previously covered the group’s expansion plans, including Bistecca & Bones at CityNorth and another location at The Sydney development, where a second Old Town Ski Lodge is also planned.

An exact opening date for The Original Tavern has not been announced. What Now Phoenix reached out to Square One Concepts, and this article may be updated as more information becomes available.
