Juke Garden, a Black-owned cocktail lounge and event space, plans to open at 1016 Martin Luther King Jr Way in Tacoma’s Hilltop neighborhood, according to a liquor license application filed with the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board.

Owner Andrew Green told What Now Seattle he is targeting November 7 for a soft opening. He described the concept as an “elevated cocktail lounge and event space.”

Green is developing Juke Garden with the Clubless Collective team, which has spent the past year hosting community events at other venues in Seattle and Tacoma. The group announced on Instagram that it is renovating the former Hilltop A Go Go.

Plans include an open dance floor, a raised DJ platform, lounge seating, and a private karaoke room. The bar will serve cocktails and zero-proof drinks, with flights of three cocktails also planned. The full drink menu will be announced closer to opening.

Juke Garden plans to host karaoke on Fridays. DJs and artists can book Saturday sessions that include a video recording of their set. On Sundays, guests can stop by for free community nights with music and games on the TVs.

Private rentals will also be part of the business. Guests can book the entire venue Monday through Wednesday, and the VIP karaoke room will be available for birthdays, small parties, and other gatherings any night.

Juke Garden will welcome guests ages 21 and older. Follow Juke Garden on Instagram for opening updates.
