Tanoor Lebanese Grill & BBQ plans to open at 1905 S. 72nd Street in Tacoma, taking over the former Famous Dave’s space, The News Tribune reports.
Owner Wassim Fayed told What Now Seattle he hopes to welcome customers in early 2027, probably January or February.
The Fayed family often cooked for friends and neighbors at their home in Sammamish. After guests encouraged them to open a Lebanese restaurant, they opened Tanoor there in 2017. Restaurants in Seattle and Bellevue followed.
As those restaurants already serve the Eastside and Seattle, the family saw an opportunity to reach more customers in Tacoma.
At 8,800 square feet, the Tacoma location will be the family’s largest. Fayed plans two banquet halls for events and celebrations and said the interior will follow the same look and feel as the other Tanoor restaurants.
Tanoor serves mezze, salads, grilled meats, sandwiches, flatbreads, and desserts, with pita baked in-house. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are also available. For the new location, the kitchen will keep the regular Lebanese menu and add halal barbecue and smoked meats.
Fayed also noted the location’s proximity to a military base. He hopes to welcome diners who have spent time in the Middle East and bring back flavors they remember from their time there.
