The suburb near Detroit city limits is getting a trendy food and drink option.
Dorothy’s Bar & Grill is a new concept in the works for 21409 John R Road. This comes from local Tim McKee, who has managed other restaurants in the area including Hazel Perk Cafe in the same plaza. McKee told What Now Detroit he is hoping to open by the end of the year.
According to McKee, Hazel Park has gained a large LGBTQ community in recent years. Being a longtime resident of the city, he wanted to create a space that is as welcoming as many of the other establishments in the area.
“It’s a generational flip,” McKee said.
For the menu, McKee describes it as “Americana” cuisine. While exact options are not being revealed, sandwiches, burgers and a range of entrees are to be expected. Drink options are being revealed closer to the opening as well.
The building is on the west side of John R Road, and joins other businesses like Zaytoona Mediterranean Cuisine and All Jazzed Up Boutique. Other bars nearby at the W Evelyn Avenue intersection include Eastern Palace Club and Boozy’s Bar & Grill. This is on the south end of Hazel Park.
