Downtown Ford, with locations at 525 N. 16th St. in Sacramento’s River District and 1501 Howe Ave. in Arden-Arcade, has a new owner. Andy Breech, President of DOCS Auto Group confirmed to What Now Sacramento that the change of hands took effect on Oct. 14.
DOCS Auto Group, a Santa Monica-based company that is part of Dealer Operating Control Service Inc., is making its first move into the Sacramento region. Breech said the dealerships will keep operating as they have been, and that the company plans to add more to what the locations offer in the future.
The two properties are large. The Sacramento Business Journal reported the 16th Street site, used for commercial sales, sits on 7.35 acres with a building of nearly 43,000 square feet. The Howe Avenue site, home to the consumer dealership and service center, covers 4.58 acres with a building of about 52,800 square feet. The Howe Avenue purchase also included a neighboring 2.23-acre lot on Hallmark Avenue used for vehicle parking.
According to county records, DOCS paid $13.5 million for the 16th Street property and $14.3 million for the Howe Avenue property when it bought them in September. The prices cover only the real estate, not the businesses.
The seller was Price Simms Family Dealerships, which acquired the two Ford properties in 2022, paying $11 million for 16th Street and $10 million for Howe Avenue. It converted the 16th Street location to fleet sales.
The River District property has another possible future. After buying it, Price Simms’ CEO said his firm was looking at using part of it for housing, and a master plan for the River District showed housing as a future use for the whole site. Breech said that, for now, DOCS isn’t planning anything like that.
