After nine years of service, a downtown Nashville steakhouse, Deacon’s New South is preparing to shut down. The restaurant is set to close its doors this weekend. The sister restaurant, Puckett’s Restaurant, will remain open.
Deacon’s New South Announces Closure
Deacon’s New South is an upscale steakhouse and Southern restaurant situated in downtown Nashville’s historic L&C Tower. The restaurant focuses on a chef-driven menu, seasonal ingredients, and well-curated wine and cocktail selections. It also features a Cliff’s Lounge and Oyster Bar that offer an aesthetic of the post-Prohibition and Art Deco atmosphere.
The restaurant was founded in 2017 and has been serving the Nashville community for almost a decade. It is part of a Tennessee-based hospitality group, A. Marshall Hospitality (AMH).
In an official closure announcement, the hospitality group shared the Deacon’s New South closure news. The group stated that the restaurant located at 401 Church Street in Nashville will serve its last customers on October 24.
Claire Crowell, CEO of A. Marshall Hospitality, noted “Deacon’s New South has been a special part of our family for almost 10 years.”
While Deacon’s New South is closing permanently, its sister restaurant, Puckett’s Restaurant, will continue to serve the community. Puckett’s operates six locations, including downtown Nashville, Chattanooga, and Franklin. The restaurant group also operated Scout’s Pub in Franklin, Tennessee.

Reason Behind the Closure
In the official announcement, the hospitality group explained that the closure decision was driven by economic pressure. Deacon’s closure is also a strategic move to improve the hospitality group’s operations and long-term sustainability.
Crowell wrote, “Downtown Nashville has changed tremendously over the past decade, and the current economic environment has created challenges that require us to make difficult decisions about the future of our business.”
“We’re incredibly proud of the memories made, meals shared, and community that has supported us throughout the years. To our dedicated team members and everyone who has joined us around the table, thank you for being part of Deacon’s story,” the restaurant team added in a social media post.
The closure of Deacon’s marks the end of a longstanding steakhouse dining option for the Nashville community.
