Forward Hospitality Group has announced that it will expand its beloved disco bar concept club Good Night John Boy to Savannah. The 1970s-inspired restaurant and nightclub, which was recognized as one of USA Today’s Best Bars of 2026, will launch in March of next year, owner and operator Beth McLeod told What Now on Wednesday, but in the meantime, it’s launching a Christmas-themed popup for the holidays: Good Night John Boy Presents: Xmas Bar.
“What we’ve found over time is that Xmas and disco are kind of universal. It’s something everybody loves,” said McLeod. “Popping up for Christmas allows us to keep the staff in place while we’re putting in for all our permits.”
The upbeat atmosphere, which McLeod describes as “just happy and fun,” has led to Good Night John Boy’s growing popularity, as it has expanded with new locations around the country. The Savannah disco will be Good Night John Boy’s ninth. John Boy and the city are a great match, McLeod says.
“Adults need a place to go hang out and have a good time. On Friday nights, it’s always amazing, with people standing in line and then so excited to get in. Savannah is already such a fun city, with all that Southern charm. I think Savannah is going to love it.”
Once the Xmas Bar finishes its run, renovations will begin to prepare for Good Night John Boy’s debut, with nostalgic 70s atmosphere, DJs, dancing, and good vibes.
“We’ve had Savannah on our radar for some time, and we’re thrilled to bring Good Night John Boy to the area,” Michael Schwartz and Bobby Rutter, founders of Forward Hospitality Group, said in a press release. “Rather than waiting until we officially open our doors, we saw an opportunity to give the community something fun to celebrate this holiday season. This is only the beginning of what we have planned.”
