Bafang Dumpling is preparing to open its second location in the Lone Star State. According to a recently filed permit with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the new Bafang Dumpling is expected to open in Baytown at 6560 Garth Road.

“For us, finding the right location is about more than just opening another restaurant. It’s about becoming a convenient and natural part of the neighborhood,” Rita Lin of Bafang Dumpling said in an interview with What Now Houston.

“Our goal is to eventually establish a presence in many of the key communities throughout the Greater Houston area.”

The property is located in the Baytown Plaza Shopping Center in the Channelview/East Houston area. The plan is to open the new Bafang Dumpling in Baytown and hold a grand opening in spring or summer 2027.

“We’re looking forward to offering exclusive commemorative Bafang T-shirts, mystery gifts, and special opening promotions for our guests. We also hope to invite the Mayor and other local community leaders to join us for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark this exciting milestone,” Lin said.

“More details about the celebration will be announced as we get closer to opening day!”

Lin Jiayu, also known as Mr. Lin or Lynn Xiau, founded Bafang Dumpling in Taipei’s Tianmu neighborhood in 1998. The chain expanded beyond Taiwan, opening its first locations in Hong Kong in 2008 and in mainland China in 2014.

Parent company Bafang Yunji International Co., Ltd. became a publicly traded company on the Taiwan Stock Exchange in September 2021. Bafang Dumpling opened its very first U.S. location in March 2022 in the City of Industry, California. Since then, it has expanded to other regions, including San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Texas, debuting in Carrollton in September.

Bafang Dumpling now has more than 1,400 locations globally, including more than 1,300 to 1,400 stores across Asia and an expanding footprint in the United States with around 17 stores.

“Our goal is to steadily expand our presence throughout Greater Houston, making Bafang Dumpling more accessible to residents across the region,” Lin said.

“Our mission is simple: to make authentic Asian street food delicious, affordable, and accessible to everyone.”

Bafang Dumpling’s signature dishes include Pan-Fried Potstickers, Hot & Sour Soup, and Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup.

“These dishes have been especially popular at our Carrollton location in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, and we’re excited to introduce them to more guests in Greater Houston,” Lin said.

“Above all, we want to bring great food, great value, and a welcoming dining experience to the Baytown community,” Lin said.

“We hope to introduce more people to the authentic flavors of Asian street food while offering an affordable option that families, students, and working professionals can enjoy regularly.”
