A new two-concept wine and charcuterie destination is preparing to take over the space formerly occupied by 7-Eleven at 521 Wappoo Road in West Ashley. Deanna’s Wine Bar and Bert’s Pig Shop will share the space, serving as a wine bar and a “pig-to-table” charcuterie spot, says coverage by the Post and Courier.

Behind the project are Bert Sheffield and Douglas Hickerson.

“The real estate agent-by-day with Cobblestone Properties and restaurateur-by-night [Hickerson] said Deanna’s is the only bar in South Carolina with a federal license from the S.C. Department of Agriculture that allows them to make the charcuterie on-premise,” the coverage says.

The project is a family affair in several respects. Deanna’s Wine Bar is named for Hickerson’s mother, while Bert’s Pig Shop will be bringing to the table fresh meats from Peculiar Pig, the fifth-generation family farm in Dorchester.

Expect, therefore, an utterly unique combination of fresh charcuterie made on-site and wines from “small European and small domestic makers—at affordable prices.”

Stay tuned for more details as they become available!
