As West Ashley looks ahead to openings like the second outpost of Bay Street Biergarten and other destinations, a new golf lounge, Iron & Oak Golf Club, is in the works with a planned opening next fall. Iron & Oak will allow guests to practice and relax in a welcoming environment free of harsh weather and, says owner Nick Crout, the pervasive industrial aesthetic that characterizes indoor golf around the country.
“It’s going to be a 24/7, fully automated unstaffed golf lounge with four oversized bays,” Crout told What Now on Tuesday. “We’re trying to give it a Lowcountry, dark-hardwood vibe, not the industrial feel you see at so many places.”
With its four oversized golf bays in the 2,500-square-foot space, and state-of-the-art golf simulation equipment, Iron & Oak promises to be a “24/7 autonomous indoor golf sanctuary” for members. Crout says he and his golf buddies have themselves felt the need for that sanctuary.
“There are times when, well, it’s rather hot,” Crout said. “We need a place to hang out and practice golf. It’s going to be welcoming and comfortable, with couches and comfortable seating, so that you don’t always have to be up swinging. It’s somewhere inviting, where you can sit and relax as well.”
Iron & Oak Golf Club won’t have a bar, but it will be BYOB for members. A waitlist is already open for prospective founding members on the Iron & Oak Golf Club website. Founding members will have their prices locked in for the lifetime of the membership. Additional six-month and month-to-month tiers will launch later on.
“Iron & Oak Golf Club is bringing a premier 24/7 indoor golf experience to West Ashley Circle,” says the golf club’s website. “Whether you are looking to dial in your numbers with precision launch monitors before sunrise or play a relaxed twilight round on world-class courses with friends, our unstaffed, state-of-the-art bays provide the ultimate uninterrupted golfing environment.”
