El Buen Comer is preparing to open a second San Francisco restaurant at Chase Center’s Thrive City. The new location will occupy the former Taco Primo space at 1 Warriors Way, Suite 205. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the restaurant’s owners have signed a lease for the property, with an opening potentially taking place as early as December 2026.

The restaurant is owned by Isabel Caudillo and her son, Vlad. Caudillo, a native of Mexico City, began selling home-cooked meals from her San Francisco apartment in 2001. She later participated in the La Cocina food-business incubator and expanded her operation through the Noe Valley Farmers Market before opening the restaurant’s Bernal Heights location in 2016.

Speaking about the decision to expand, Caudillo described the business as a family operation. “El Buen Comer is a family business. My husband, my children, my daughters-in-law, and I all work together. We wanted to open another location, and this opportunity came along, so we decided to make the most of it,” she told WhatNow.

El Buen Comer is known for its Mexico City-style home cooking. Its menu features traditional Mexican preparations, including handmade tortillas, moles, and other dishes associated with the cuisine of Mexico’s capital.

The original restaurant serves dishes such as green mole with pork and chicken tinga quesadillas. Handmade tortillas are also an important part of its cooking. The Thrive City restaurant will mark the company’s first expansion beyond its original Bernal Heights location. The new space previously housed Taco Primo and is part of the dining offerings at the Chase Center development.
