San Francisco restaurant Cotogna is preparing to temporarily close for renovations before reopening following a kitchen expansion. Located at 490 Pacific Ave. in Jackson Square, the restaurant is scheduled to close on January 15, 2027, for a project expected to take approximately three months, according to the San Francisco Standard.

Owned by Michael and Lindsay Tusk, Cotogna is part of the couple’s San Francisco restaurant group, which also includes Quince and Verjus. The restaurant is known for its Italian-inspired menu, with housemade pasta and wood-fired pizzas among its offerings.

The renovation will focus on expanding the kitchen, which was originally designed to accommodate the restaurant’s 36 indoor seats rather than the approximately 100 additional seats in its outdoor parklet. Michael and Lindsay Tusk told The San Francisco Standard that the project will double the available cooking and preparation space. The work will also include replacing the restaurant’s pizza oven.

According to Cotogna’s official website, the restaurant specializes in regional Italian cuisine, including housemade pasta, spit-roasted and grilled meats, and seafood prepared in a wood-burning oven. Its menu changes daily based on seasonal ingredients, including produce sourced from the owners’ farm in West Marin County.

The restaurant’s menu includes dishes such as agnolotti del plin, tagliatelle, and wood-fired pizzas. Cotogna also offers a wine program focused on Italian producers, along with private dining and group dining options.

The owners expect the renovation to take approximately three months. A specific reopening date has not yet been announced.
