Charlene Marguerite Diaz, a chef and caterer for more than 20 years, has plans to open Marguerite’s Jerk Bistro in Grant Park.

Marguerite’s Jerk Bistro would occupy an 800-square-foot space in the Main Hall of The Beacon Atlanta, the mixed-use project by Pellerin Real Estate.

The “Jamaican-fusion” restaurant would offer a family-friendly environment with “great food and happy souls,” Diaz told What Now Atlanta in a telephone interview Monday.

By “happy souls” Diaz means “great minds coming together in a serene atmosphere,” she said. “Food so good that you’ll want to sit around and talk about it, a community staple.”

The restaurant would serve “authentic Jamaican flavors mixed with the various cultures that make up Jamaica.”

Menu items include dishes like Jerk chicken, turkey, shrimp, and corn, and Oxtails, Curry Goat, Cocoloco rice, Honey Garlic Yum Yum Shrimp, Calypso Corn, Seasoned Quinoa, and beverages such as Sorrel, a traditional Jamaican drink.

The casual sit-down restaurant would serve breakfast, lunch and dinner in a “space that is going to feel like you’re in Jamaica” in “your dining room away from home.”

Marguerite’s Jerk Bistro joins the already-open Grant Street CrossFit, The Cafe of Life, The Nest, Covered Nail Bar, Two Therapists with Wanderlust Coffee and Treehouse Milk Production Facility, and Heal Thyself, opening soon.

Other confirmed The Beacon Atlanta tenants include Balanced Fit Life, Vagabond Salon, Churchill Grounds, Third Street Market and Goods, and Grant Park Public House.
