285 Colonial Kitchen, a restaurant centered around Vietnam’s French colonial period, is slated to open in Sandy Springs at the end of August.

Duc Tran, the owner of 575 Bistro in Kennesaw, is bringing the restaurant to The Prado, at 5610 Roswell Rd #110.

285 Colonial Kitchen, which in part gets its name from the proximity to I-285, will open in space previously occupied by Barberitos.

“We wanted to create an upscale-feeling dining experience without charging an arm and a leg,” Tran in a telephone interview Thursday told What Now Atlanta.

“Everything down to the service will be elevated including details like a proper ‘sir’ and ‘ma’am’ greeting.”

285 Colonial Kitchen will serve lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, each with its own unique menu.

Beer and wine will also be available.

The 2,000-square-foot space will “feel like Vietnam in the early 1900s” and will be complete with a 600-square-foot patio.

“Take one step through our door to begin the transformation of a small part of your day into a visit to another era.”
