Fort Apache Road South will soon be home to Whiskful Thinking Cakes, a new custom cake shop from Korey Wells.

Formally trained as a children’s book illustrator, Wells has been operating the business from her home for seven years, gaining a loyal following with her finely crafted custom cakes.

“I wanted to use my background to take cakes to an illustrative level,” Wells told What Now Las Vegas in Wednesday morning phone call. “I take it as an opportunity to illustrate somebody’s theme. I love working with party planners to bring an idea to life, taking a more creative approach than the straightforward bakery cake.”

Still, Wells pointed out, not everybody wants a custom cake. The new location will also cater to more up-to-the-moment cake shoppers. The ready-to-go menu remains to be announced, and Wells preferred not to reveal much about it.

“The fan favorites will be there,” she said. “And if you’re a chocolate person you’ll definitely like what I have to offer.”

Whiskful Thinking was represented by Leor Rozen in the leasing process. The location at 5035 S Fort Apache Rd, formerly an ice cream parlor, will be substantially remodeled to include ovens and hood. Wells said she hopes to open sometime in December.

“Working out of my home limited me with fundraisers and community-involved projects,” she said. “I’m really excited to be able to serve more of the community.”
