Durango Drive South will soon be home to a new Moroccan café and restaurant, Argana Café.
Co-owner Azzeddine Azzat confirmed the news in a Thursday morning phone call with What Now Las Vegas. Azzat said the idea for the restaurant sprang from his wife’s love of French cafes, which served coffee in a relaxing atmosphere along with French cuisine.
“But we’d never been to a place where you can sit and have a coffee, a cappuccino, with Mediterranean food,” Azzat said. “Morocco is perfect for that.”
Azzat, who will be undertaking the project in partnership with his brother, who will operate the restaurant, is a former general manager for the Tao Group, an award-winning hospitality company. The brothers also brought in a former chef at The Bazaar by José Andrés to consult on the menu.
Argana will serve well-known Mediterranean favorites along with an outstanding Moroccan kofta burger, and other Moroccan dishes including merguez sausage and Zaalouk. There will also be a wide range of vegan and vegetarian selections like cauliflower shawarma, a variety of salads, and more. Guests will also be able to enjoy coffee and a relaxing atmosphere.
The restaurant will be opening at 7245 S Durango Drive #103, previously occupied by a taco restaurant. Azzat described changes to the location as both cosmetic and functional.
“It’s about how we can make service more effective,” Azzat said. “And how we can make it feel like an eclectic, cozy space.”
