Kroger’s newly-built, Atlanta BeltLine-adjacent supermarket in Poncey-Highland appears to have been vandalized over the weekend.
The grocery store, which in late-2019 reopened as part of the 725 Ponce development, was graffitied with the word “murder” and a cartoon blood drip, according to several Reddit chains this week.
An image published Monday (pictured below) appears to show the graffiti-removal process underway.
Reps for the supermarket chain on Monday did not respond to What Now Atlanta’s request for comment.
Before it was rebuilt from the ground up at the same site, at 725 Ponce de Leon Avenue, Kroger operated as a standalone storefront since the 80s, and was infamously known as “Murder Kroger.”
Ahead of its demolition and rebuilding, the company made a public effort to rebrand the location as “BeltLine Kroger.”
Atlantans seem to refuse to let the Murder Kroger moniker go.
The name has stuck for decades, gaining notoriety after a series of deaths in or near the Kroger parking lot dating back to the 90s.
Walked by there Sunday afternoon and didn’t see this
Give it a rest, as in let those souls who died there rest in peace and let the community move on to enjoy a brighter retail space.

Anything for a click huh….?
well, it worked on you.
Not really appropriate content for What Now in my opinion.
I was just waiting to see when/if this would happen over there! Damn it didn’t take long- 3 months!
Total BS. People have no respect for a company making a huge investment in the community to benefit all.
They should just sell the t-shirts.
