A glam café and speakeasy called Roaring Social is planned for Decatur.

The concept from Competitive Social Ventures will feature a full-service restaurant and bar on the first level, with the speakeasy in the basement. It will include a stage for live entertainment, VIP seating, a dance floor, bar seating, private event spaces and boutique bowling lanes.

The approximately 7,500-square-foot concept will be located at the corner of Ponce de Leon and Clairemont avenues, across from Decatur Square.

The dining component, Sophia’s Café and Cocktails, will be a café-style restaurant with food and beverages, serving as a cover to RoSo Treasury, the speakeasy that lies behind a bank vault. A secret password will be needed to bypass the treasury and get behind the secret doors, where guests will find lush velvet sofas, a dimly lit room, live music and bowling lanes.

The will be the second Roaring Social location. The first opened in Alpharetta in September 2021 featuring an alteration concept called RoSo Clothiers, as well as live entertainment and food and drinks.

“Roaring Social’s origin story comes from a fictional couple named Robert and Sophia who were the original proprietors of Roaring Social,” said CEO of Competitive Social Ventures Neal Freeman. “It’s a bit of an easter egg as the brand logo is depicted as ‘RoSo’ for this reason, and if you visit our Alpharetta location you will find a bronze statue of the couple outside our doors. We are excited to continue this story with a completely new experience of RoSo Treasury.”

Competitive Social Ventures has a portfolio of several entertainment concepts: Roaring Social, Fairway Social and Pickle and Social. The Alpharetta-based company was founded in 2020.

Roaring Social in Decatur is expected to open in late Q4 of 2024.
