A unique business for enjoying games with a glass of wine is coming to the suburb.
Clink Mahjong Social is under construction at 5th Avenue Station in Naperville. The business will mainly be a space to play Mahjong, which is gaining popularity in the U.S., as well as a boutique and champagne bar. From their social media pages, the opening date is going to be sometime in December this year.
Angela Holloway started the business after becoming curious about the game while living in Singapore watching a film featuring the game. Earlier this year, she taught herself how to play and was inspired to create her own space for it. Until the permanent space is open, Holloway and the team are hosting pop-ups around Naperville where the game can be played.
“Soon, you’ll have a permanent spot to drop in for open play, host private celebrations, book table reservations, and sip delicious bubbles with great company. We can’t wait to welcome you home!” Says the description on their website.
The strategy game involves tiles and can be played in different ways, and the space will be a place for all skill levels. As of now, it looks like only champagne is being served at the location once it opens.
5th Avenue Station is just north of downtown, featuring businesses like Pieno Coffee Trailer and Bella Baby Photography. This is considered the Naperville Historic District. The village’s Metra station is a short walk from the historic building.
