TQM Hospitality, the group behind local concepts such as Buena Vida Tapas, Chichería Mexican Kitchen and The Silver Dollar, is planning a new opening in Alpharetta this summer. The team will open Amasa Mexican Kitchen at City Center at 15 Academy St, Suite 1E, according to a release.
“Alpharetta is a community driven by bonds and connections,” owner Juan Calle told What Now Atlanta. “Community is at the core of our mission statement at TQM Hospitality. We’re very excited to be in a community like that.”
Intended to act as a sister restaurant to Baja California-inspired Chichería Mexican Kitchen, Amasa will offer a seafood-focused, gluten-free menu with an emphasis on blue corn tortillas.
“We’re leaning into our core identity and the foundation of our restaurant: our masa program, which is made out of organic, non-GMO blue corn,” Calle said. “We grind the blue corn every day and press our tortillas fresh daily.”
There will also be a Mexico City-inspired Sunday cazuela brunch buffet. For the beverage program, there will be a dedicated tequila room with margarita flights.
The design of the space will aim to create a social atmosphere, offering communal tables and two private dining rooms. In the evenings, the restaurant will host live jazz, saxophone performances and Spanish singer-songwriters.
Amasa will also host events, including multi-course tastings, tequila classes and dancing lessons.
“Bringing Amasa to Alpharetta is incredibly exciting for us,” Calle said. “We’re building on what guests already love about Chichería while introducing new experiences, from our seafood-forward menu to our tequila program and live entertainment. We can’t wait to welcome the community.”
