Athens’ first cookie dough café opened in 2019, when Mike and Jennifer Dollander decided we might all just need a little more sweetness in our lives. A second Alumni Cookie Dough followed, opening later in 2019, and franchising for the brand started in 2020. So it’s been a busy few years for the cookie-loving business.

Today, the Alumni Cookie Dough is in the process of expanding to East Cobb as well as Crabapple Market in Milton, with both locations being franchised by different partners.

The East Cobb location, which is being franchised by Eric and Leana Tatum, will celebrate its grand opening on October 30th. The shop is headed to the Woodlawn Shopping Center at 1205 Johnson Ferry Road in Marietta.

Speaking with What Now Atlanta, Alumni Cookie Dough Co-Owner Jennifer Dollander said the Crabapple Market location has a letter of intent, although a lease has not actually been signed yet. The hope is to finalize plans this week. Alumni Cookie Dough Crabapple Market is being franchised by Cynthia and Hilary Douglas and is slated to open later this year.

At Alumni Cookie Dough, you can eat dough by the spoonful—every kid’s dream—and the best part is, the ingredients are 100% safe to eat raw. The cafés offer dough by the scoop, as well as shakes, sundaes, and the dreamy, creamy concoction that is the eatery’s signature “Dream Crème,” or a scoop of gourmet cookie dough mixed with a scoop of vanilla or chocolate ice cream. If you want to take some tubs of the dough to go, you can purchase a few different packs, named for the collegiate history tied to the owners. Or go for what we all need right now, the “I made it through quarantine” pack.
