The Little Tart Bakeshop team will be opening its fourth location in Candler Park this year at 1643 McLendon Ave. NE in the space formerly home to bridal shop Kelly’s Closet. However, the team is also taking over the neighboring unit in the retail strip, which will house a sister concept to Little Tart. In that space, Midi will debut alongside the newest Little Tart spot.
The team, helmed by founder Sarah O’Brien, conceptualized the Midi brand on their last trip to Paris, drawing inspiration from the cafes and restaurants they visited, according to a recent Instagram announcement. Midi will serve as a sandwich shop, offering sandwiches made with homemade bread and local ingredients, as well as salads, small bites and a wine and cocktail program. Midi will also offer soft serve, drawing in elements of O’Brien’s other local concept Big Softie.
“I see these new spaces as a culmination of it all, a true distillation of what we want to eat, and thus what we want to make for you,” the Instagram announcement states. “America is my country, but I have two hometowns. I love them both with my whole heart, and can’t wait to bring a little bit more of my affection for Paris to Atlanta.”
What Now Atlanta has reached out to O’Brien for further details on the plans for Candler Park. Rough Draft Atlanta reports that both Little Tart and Midi are expected to open this fall.
O’Brien launched Little Tart as a farmers market concept in 2010. It now has existing locations in Grant Park, Krog Street and Summerhill. The brand serves a full espresso menu, baked goods and pastries, as well as a weekend brunch at the Grant Park location.
