Cafe + Velo, slated to open September 5, will ‘cater to the cycling/pedestrian communities of intown Atlanta.’

Artist Jeff Demetriou and Atlanta Beltline Bicycle owner Ben Boisson are partnering to open Café + Velo in Old Fourth Ward, Eater Atlanta first reported.

On the outside the restaurant, at 381 Edgewood Ave SE, seems pretty pedestrian: Octane Coffee, French baked goods, and organic breakfast and lunch offerings.

But this is Edgewood Avenue we’re talking about (where Church Murch is opening soon!) and run-of-the-mill won’t work.

So, naturally, Café + Velo will double as a bike rental and repair shop with “an enormous outdoor patio and covered rooftop deck” complete with croquet.

It’s a “modern and creative take on the quintessential French café/independent coffee shop model,” according to Café + Velo’s Facebook page.

To get your fill of the four “Cs” (“Coffee, Cycling, Cuisine, and Community”), plan on biking over to Café + Velo when they open the garage door September 5.
